Manscaping with Temptations Boudior
30/09/25
Usually, when I talk about photography on this blog, I’m referring to photos I’ve taken myself. On this occasion, however, I’m talking about photos taken by my good friend Amy down at Temptations Boudoir in Tamworth. This isn’t my first time modelling for her, more like my fourth or fifth, maybe? BUT, it was my first time modelling for a “manscapes” session, something I never would have imagined myself doing even 12 months ago.
The story here is really twofold. First, Amy had the top room of her studio completely blacked out for a different photo project she’d been working on, and she wanted to make use of that darkness to experiment with a single-point light source, the kind of creative testing you do for yourself, not something you can usually do with a paying client.
On the other side of things, I began a weight loss journey about two years ago after being diagnosed with hypertension. I was given a choice: lose a bunch of weight or take a bunch of medication. I chose the former. It’s been a long road, but I can’t say the weight loss was ever really paired with the kind of muscle toning needed for this style of photography. So when Amy suggested the shoot, it gave me just over a month to start working out properly, to try to give my body a bit more shape. Thankfully, that’s now become part of my daily routine.
While my body still wasn’t quite where I wanted it to be for the shoot, the photos themselves came out amazing, as Amy’s work always does. I don’t know if we’ll get to do something like this again in the future now that her studio has been rearranged, but I’m always excited to see what we end up collaborating on next.
