Another Trip to the Armidale Greyhound Track
04/02/26
One last trip out to the Armidale Greyhound tracks. We’d been waiting for months for the sun to reach a position where the light pours through the glass windows lining the front of the old Mill Bar and Grill, and now that Evelyn and I have finally captured the space in those conditions, it feels like we’ve documented just about everything there is to capture out there without having a model as a subject.
The lighting made a big difference to the mood. Historically, this location has always felt super dark and dreary; for most of the year, light doesn’t seem to touch the inside of any of the buildings in a significant or interesting way. It was nice to see little pockets of both the bar and the greyhound holding areas lit up, though it was a shame there wasn’t much going on in terms of subjects. Items are always being dumped and taken away from this location, so you never know what you’re going to find, and this time, we won on lighting and lost on the garbage. Ah well.
