Print

Last night saw Mike Terry, Grace Bowman and myself launch the first New England Regional Film Festival, or NERFF as we affectionately referred to it out loud.

We wanted to try and create a platform for both local creatives, and the wider regional Australian community as whole to showcase their work. Regional stories for regional people.

As is often the case with these sorts or projects, it was an oppertunity for me to create something new for screening, my third short film this year. I felt like it was time to dip my toes into the increasingly popular genre of video essays, a format I find myself watching a lot online, but while most of the subjects I tend to watch are based around video games and other forms of media, I wanted to try and make something focused more around my own creative process and struggles. A bit of a window into my creative life if you will, and thus, my short film Print was born.

I really enjoyed making this little video, and I have written down some other idea’s for future projects in the same style covering the preservation of old gaming devices, how the Nintendo DS has kind of saved gaming as a hobby for me this year, through to more creative subjects like some of my vintage lenses and why I love them, and even a potential follow up to my film Headland. Hopefully as the year winds down I actually get the time to bring some of these concepts into fruition.

In the mean time, here is a video about why printing my photography is so important to me.
